Available during the summer, the Leaders-in-Training (L-I-T’s) will assist the Education Manager and Education Coordinator with at least one week of Zoo Camp and Leesburg Animal Park. The camp day runs from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. which includes prep, breakdown, and a debrief each day. The camp dates are as follows:
- June 17th-21st
- July 15th-19th
- July 29th – August 2nd
- August 12th – 16th
Responsibilities:
- Leading group games
- Helping prepare lessons
- Model positive behavior
Objective:
- Involve teens by offering opportunities to work closely with children and adults in a fun, recreational setting
- Develop public speaking and leadership skills
- Help convey animal and conservation information to children under the age of 12
Requirements:
- Ages 14-17, must be entering 9th-12th grade in the fall of 2019
- Strong desire to work with children
- Able to attend a short training session regarding general camp policies, safety procedures and an introduction to leadership skills before their scheduled week to volunteer
This position is unpaid, but at the end of the summer, all L-I-T’s will receive official acknowledgement of their volunteer hours. Please complete an L.A.P. Employment Application, as well as the L-I-T Essay Question form and send both documents to booking@leesburganimalpark.com
